What is the visual rule builder?

Quick answer

The visual rule builder is the admin panel's tool for creating rule sets: you add rules from a palette, set their parameters and actions, and see a plain-language summary of what the set will do. The server checks every rule and every plan limit when you save, and saving creates a new version.

Detailed answer

The builder is designed so the rules you configure read the same way your traders will understand them.

How it works

  1. Start a rule set, or open an existing one.
  2. Add rules from the palette, grouped as drawdown, objectives, instruments and leverage, position risk, timing, trading behaviour and custom.
  3. Set parameters, such as 5% for the daily loss limit or a Friday cutoff time.
  4. Choose the action where a rule offers more than one.
  5. Read the summary in plain English.
  6. Save, which creates a new version.

Plan locks

Rules outside your plan's catalogue are shown as locked, and limits on the number of rule sets and rules are displayed. The server enforces the same limits regardless of what the screen shows.

Descriptions

Each rule shows exactly how it is calculated, for example that the maximum loss limit is a fixed floor under the starting balance. You can copy these definitions into your public rules page.

Templates

The setup wizard starts you from a template, which you refine in the builder.
