What is a rule set version?
Quick answer
A rule set version is one immutable snapshot of a rule set: its numbers and rules at a moment in time, with a version number and date. Each save of a rule set creates a new version. Trading accounts are tied to exactly one version for life.
Detailed answer
Versions give your rules a history.
What a version contains
- The core limits: daily drawdown, maximum drawdown and profit target percentages, minimum trading days and allowed instruments.
- The full list of rules from the builder, each with its parameters and action.
- A version number and effective date.
How versions relate to accounts
- An account type points at a rule set.
- When an account is created, it takes the rule set's current version.
- That version stays attached to the account forever.
Why immutable
If a version could be edited, an account's rules could change without anyone noticing. Making versions append-only means the record of what a trader agreed to is permanent.
Using versions in practice
- Rules pages: date each published version.
- Support: answer "which rules apply to me?" from the account's version.
- Analysis: compare pass rates between versions to see whether a rule change worked.
Absent rules
A version can leave out a rule entirely, for example no profit target for an instant funding account. An absent rule is recorded as absent, never as zero.
