Do rule changes affect existing accounts?

Quick answer

No. Every trading account is frozen to the rule set version in force when it was created, and that link never changes. Editing a rule set creates a new version for new accounts only. Existing accounts keep their original rules for life, including after plan changes.

Detailed answer

This is one of PropExecutor's core guarantees.

Why it matters to traders

Traders buy a specific set of rules. Changing them mid-challenge is one of the fastest ways for a firm to lose trust and attract disputes or chargebacks.

How it is enforced

  • Each account stores the ID of its rule set version.
  • That ID is set at creation and never updated, by the panel, the API or any migration.
  • Versions themselves cannot be modified once saved.

If you need different rules for an existing trader

Create a new account on an account type with the rules you want, and assign it to the trader. The old account keeps its history and its original rules.

Plan downgrades and rule limits

If a firm's tier ever drops, existing rule sets keep working even if they exceed the lower tier's limits. They simply cannot be extended further.

Testing

PropExecutor runs automated tests proving that existing accounts are unaffected when a new rule version is created, because this guarantee is load-bearing for every firm.
