Can I build a custom rule?
Quick answer
Yes, on Basic (up to 5 per rule set) and Growth (unlimited). A custom rule says: if a metric crosses a value, then breach the account, reject the order or flag it. Metrics include drawdown from peak, loss since today's open, loss from the starting balance, profit, open lots, open positions, trades today and the largest single loss.
Detailed answer
Custom rules cover limits the standard catalogue does not.
The building blocks
Metrics:
- Equity drawdown from peak (%).
- Loss since today's open (%).
- Loss from starting balance (%).
- Profit on starting balance (%).
- Open lots.
- Open positions.
- Trades opened today.
- Largest single closed-trade loss (%).
Operators: is above, is at or above, is below, is at or below.
Actions: breach, reject order or flag.
Examples
- Soft warning: flag when loss since today's open is at or above 3%, before a 5% daily limit breaches.
- Single-trade loss cap: breach when the largest single closed-trade loss is above 2%.
- Activity cap: reject orders when trades opened today is at or above 30.
How they are enforced
Custom rules on equity metrics are judged on every tick like built-in rules. Rules on positions or trade counts are checked at order time.
Versioning
Custom rules are part of the rule set version, frozen per account like every other rule.
