What is a server name in PropExecutor?
Quick answer
The server name is your firm's identifier in the trading terminal login. Traders enter it with their Account Number and Password, and it tells the platform which firm the account belongs to. You choose it after payment, and it locks once your firm has created its first trading account.
Detailed answer
Real trading terminals ask for a server as well as a login and password, and PropExecutor follows the same pattern.
What it does
- Identifies your firm at login, alongside the account number and password.
- Appears in every set of credentials you hand to traders.
Choosing one
- Short, lowercase and recognisable, usually based on your firm's name.
- Some names are reserved because PropExecutor uses them for its own services.
- It must be unique across all firms.
Why it locks
Once trading accounts exist, traders have been given credentials that include the server name. Changing it would lock every one of them out. So the server name can be changed freely during setup, and becomes permanent when your first account is created.
What can still change
Your firm's display name, logo and branding can be changed at any time. Only the server name is fixed.
Example
A firm called Northwind Capital might choose the server name "northwind". Its traders would log in with their 8-digit account number, their password, and "northwind".
