What are the Account Number, Password and Server?

Quick answer

They are a trader's login details for one trading account. The Account Number is the account's 8-digit number, the Password is generated by the platform and can be rotated by your firm, and the Server is your firm's server name. Account Number and Server never change; only the Password does.

Detailed answer

These three values are what your firm hands a trader when it assigns them an account.

Account Number

  • An 8-digit sequential number, such as 10004821.
  • Assigned when the account is created and never changed.
  • Also used in the API, for example GET /v1/accounts/10004821/report.

Password

  • Generated by the platform for each new account.
  • Visible to the firm in the admin panel's account drawer.
  • Rotated by the firm when needed, which generates a new password and ends live sessions.

Server

  • Your firm's server name, chosen in the setup wizard.
  • The same for every account in your firm.
  • Locked once your firm has trading accounts, because it is part of every login.

Why three values

The server tells the platform which firm the account belongs to, so account numbers and passwords alone never identify an account across firms. It also follows the convention traders know from other professional terminals.

Handling them safely

Send credentials only to the trader's registered email, and rotate the password whenever an account changes hands or a password may have been shared.
