Can I create unassigned accounts in advance?

Quick answer

Yes. Accounts are created unassigned by default, so you can build inventory for each account size ahead of sales and assign accounts to traders when purchases arrive. Each account uses its credit when created, keeps its frozen rule version, and stays ready until assigned.

Detailed answer

Pre-created inventory is the simplest way to deliver accounts instantly.

How firms use it

  1. Create, for example, 100 accounts of each size.
  2. When a sale arrives, assign the next unassigned account to the buyer.
  3. Send credentials.
  4. Top up inventory when it runs low.

Things to know

  • Credits: used at creation, not at assignment.
  • Rule version: frozen when the account is created. If you change the rule set later, accounts already in inventory keep the earlier version.
  • Passwords: generated at creation; rotate before handing over if you prefer a fresh one.

Rule changes and inventory

Because inventory accounts keep the version they were created with, plan rule changes around stock. Either use up inventory first or create new accounts after the change and archive unused old ones.

Automating assignment

Your checkout can call PUT /v1/accounts/{number}/trader to assign an inventory account to the buyer by name and email.
