How do I set the starting balance for an account?
Quick answer
The starting balance comes from the account's type. Create an account type with the balance you want, such as $50,000, and every account created from it starts with that balance. To offer a different size, create another account type; several types can share one rule set.
Detailed answer
Starting balance is a product decision, so it lives on the account type rather than on individual accounts.
Steps
- Open Account types.
- Create a type, for example "$50K Standard".
- Set the starting balance to 50,000.
- Choose the rule set it uses.
- Create accounts from it.
Why the balance matters
- Loss limits are calculated from it: a 10% maximum loss on $50,000 is a $45,000 floor.
- The profit target is a percentage of it.
- Reports measure growth against it.
It does not change cost
Every account uses one credit, whatever its starting balance. A $200,000 account costs the same on PropExecutor as a $5,000 account.
Migrated or scaled traders
When moving a trader from another platform, or scaling a funded trader, create an account type with the matching balance. The new account starts there with the rule set you choose.
Changing a balance
You cannot change an existing account's starting balance, because its limits were defined from it. Create a new account of a different type instead.
