What is an account type?
Quick answer
An account type is a product your firm sells, such as "$25K Standard" or "$100K Funded". It sets the starting balance and points at a rule set, and every trading account is created from one. Several account types can share the same rule set, and account types can be archived when you stop selling them.
Detailed answer
Account types connect what you sell to how accounts behave.
What an account type holds
- Name: how you and your team recognise it.
- Starting balance: for example $25,000.
- Price: informational, for your own records.
- Rule set: the rules every account of this type follows.
Typical setup
- One account type per evaluation size.
- Separate account types for phase two, funded, scaled, trial or competition accounts.
Sharing rule sets
A "$10K Standard" and a "$25K Standard" can both point at a "Standard Rules" set, because the rules are percentages of the starting balance. Editing that rule set then applies to new accounts of both types.
Archiving and restoring
Archive an account type to stop it appearing for new accounts; existing accounts of that type are unaffected. Restore it if you sell it again.
Why accounts are created from types
It keeps every account consistent with a known product and rule set, which makes reporting, support and disputes much simpler than per-account settings.
