How do I rotate a trading account's password?
Quick answer
Open the account's drawer in the admin panel and choose to rotate the password, or call `POST /v1/accounts/{account}/credentials/rotate` over the API. A new password is generated and shown, and every live session for the account is revoked. Send the new password to the trader.
Detailed answer
Rotation is the standard way to secure an account.
When to rotate
- An account changes hands.
- A password or login link may have been shared.
- A trader reports suspicious activity.
- A trader asks for a reset.
What happens
- A new password is generated by the platform.
- All refresh tokens for the account are revoked.
- Open terminals lose access within at most 15 minutes, when their short-lived access token expires and refresh fails.
- The old password stops working immediately for new logins.
What does not change
- Account number, server, balance, positions and history.
- The account's trader assignment.
Viewing the new password
It appears in the account's drawer in the admin panel, and through GET /v1/accounts/{account}/credentials with the credentials scope. The panel masks it from session recording tools.
Over the API
Automated rotation suits firms handling many resets or handovers through their own support tools.
