How do I assign an account to a trader?

Assignment links an account to a person so you know who holds it.

In the admin panel

1. Open the account from Accounts.
2. Choose assign and pick or create a trader.
3. Share the Account Number, Password and Server.

Over the API

• PUT /v1/accounts/{number}/trader with {name, email}.
• A known email keeps its stored name; the name is used only when creating a new record.
• If the account is already held by someone else, the call is refused with the current holder's ID, so a mistyped number cannot silently move a paying trader's account.
• Assigning the same trader again changes nothing, so retries are safe.

Sessions

Assigning an account to a different trader ends any live sessions on it.

Good practice

Assign accounts from pre-created inventory as sales come in, and record the account number against the order in your own system for reconciliation.
