Can traders reset their own password?
Quick answer
No. There is no trader self-service on PropExecutor, including password resets, because traders have no account on the platform. If a trader forgets their password, your firm rotates it in the admin panel or over the API and sends the new one to the trader's registered email.
Detailed answer
This follows from PropExecutor's design: traders are records your firm manages, not users with their own sign-in.
The reset process for your firm
- Verify the request comes from the account's trader, for example from their registered email.
- Rotate the password in the account's drawer in the admin panel.
- Send the new password to the registered email.
Why rotation rather than resending
Rotation creates a new password and revokes all existing sessions. If someone else had obtained the old password, they lose access too.
Automating it
Firms with many traders can automate resets through their own support tools: verify the trader, call POST /v1/accounts/{account}/credentials/rotate, then email the new password from GET /v1/accounts/{account}/credentials.
Why no self-service
Self-service resets would require trader identities, email ownership checks and recovery flows on PropExecutor, which would turn it into a trader-facing system. Keeping traders as your firm's records keeps the relationship and the control with you.
