Can traders place pending orders?
Quick answer
Yes. Traders can place buy limit, sell limit, buy stop and sell stop orders, each with an optional stop loss and take profit. Pending orders wait for the live price to reach their level, then fill at the live price, after passing the same rule and margin checks as a market order.
Detailed answer
Pending orders let traders plan entries in advance, which suits traders who cannot watch the screen all day.
The four types
- Buy limit: fills when the ask falls to the level or lower.
- Sell limit: fills when the bid rises to the level or higher.
- Buy stop: fills when the ask rises to the level or higher.
- Sell stop: fills when the bid falls to the level or lower.
Fill prices
Limit orders fill at their level or better. Stop orders fill at the first live price through the level, so in a fast market a stop order can fill beyond its level, as in real markets.
Checks when they trigger
A pending order placed earlier may no longer fit the account by the time it triggers: margin may be in use elsewhere, or a position limit may be reached. PropExecutor applies the rules and margin check again when the order triggers, inside the transaction that opens the position.
Managing pending orders
Traders can modify the level, size, stop loss and take profit, or cancel the order, from the orders panel. Each change is checked against the account's rules.
