Which order types does the terminal support?
Quick answer
The terminal supports market orders and four pending order types: buy limit, sell limit, buy stop and sell stop. Every order can carry a stop loss and a take profit. Traders can modify or cancel pending orders, modify stops and targets on open positions, and close positions fully.
Detailed answer
These cover the order types most prop traders use day to day.
Market orders
Fill immediately at the live ask for a buy or the live bid for a sell.
Pending orders
- Buy limit: buy below the current price.
- Sell limit: sell above the current price.
- Buy stop: buy above the current price, often for breakouts.
- Sell stop: sell below the current price.
They wait until the live price reaches their level, then fill at the live executable price.
Protective levels
- Stop loss: closes the position at a set loss level.
- Take profit: closes it at a set profit level.
One-click trading
A one-click trade strip on the chart lets traders buy or sell at the live price with a preset size, for fast entries.
Managing orders
- Modify a pending order's price, size or protective levels.
- Cancel a pending order.
- Modify the stop loss and take profit on an open position.
- Close a position.
Rule checks on every path
Every order path (market orders, placing or modifying pending orders, changing stops, and a pending order triggering) passes through the firm's rules and the margin check, so an account cannot use a pending order to bypass a limit that would refuse a market order.
