Can I restrict instruments per account type?
Quick answer
Yes. The allowed instruments rule, in the core catalogue, limits a rule set to a chosen list of instruments, and orders on anything else are refused. Because account types point at rule sets, you can offer forex-only, gold-and-indices or crypto accounts as separate products.
Detailed answer
Instrument restrictions shape both risk and product design.
How it works
- Choose the instruments in the rule's picker.
- Orders on instruments outside the list are refused.
Product ideas
- Forex-only challenge for traditional currency traders.
- Indices and gold for traders focused on the most volatile CFD markets.
- Crypto challenge with lower leverage.
- Majors only for newer traders.
Combining with leverage by asset class
Allowing an instrument and limiting its leverage are separate: you might allow crypto but cap its leverage at 1:2 with the leverage by asset class rule.
What traders see
The terminal shows instruments from the feed; orders on disallowed ones are refused with a clear reason. List allowed instruments on your rules page so traders are not surprised.
Changing the list
Adding or removing instruments is a rule edit, so it creates a new version for new accounts. Traders already trading keep the instrument list they bought, which avoids cutting someone off from a market mid-challenge.
