When does the daily loss limit reset?
Quick answer
At 00:00 UTC every day. At that moment the day's opening value is set to the higher of the account's balance and equity, and the daily floor is recalculated from it. The reset is the same for every account and every firm, so traders in any time zone can check it.
Detailed answer
A single, published reset time avoids one of the most common disputes in prop trading.
What happens at 00:00 UTC
- The previous day's figures are closed.
- The opening value becomes max(balance, equity).
- The floor is recalculated.
Time zones
- London: 00:00 in winter, 01:00 in summer.
- New York: 19:00 or 20:00 the previous evening, depending on daylight saving.
- India: 05:30.
- Dubai: 04:00.

Open positions across the reset
Positions stay open. If they are in floating loss, the opening value still uses the higher of balance and equity, so the loss counts against the new day.
Crypto
Crypto trades around the clock, but the reset is still 00:00 UTC.
Other day-based rules
Minimum trading days, profitable days, the consistency rule and maximum orders per day also count days in UTC.
