How a startup founder from the United States (US) can build and own a propfirm from just under $500 in 2026

If you are a founder in the United States with under $500, you can own a prop firm platform outright. You do not need a developer team or a monthly software bill. You need a simulated trading platform, a rule engine, a branded terminal and a way to connect it to your own systems. This guide walks through what to buy, what it costs in dollars, and how the API fits in.

What a US founder actually needs to launch

Strip a prop firm down to its tech and you need four things. A terminal your traders log into. Rules that judge every account. An admin panel to create and manage accounts. An API so your own site can hand accounts to buyers.

PropExecutor ships all four. The terminal lives at trade.propexecutor.com, and traders log in with an Account Number, Password and Server. Orders are simulated against live market prices, and nothing is routed to a broker, exchange or liquidity provider. That makes it a simulator, and it is built that way on purpose.

What it costs, in dollars

Plans are one-time payments. There is no setup fee, no monthly platform fee and no revenue share. Here is the full price list.

PlanOne-time priceTrading accountsCost per account
Starter$12950$2.58
Basic$499250$2.00
Growth$1,7991,250$1.44

The two plans that fit a budget under $500 are Starter at $129 and Basic at $499. Account credits never expire. Each account you create uses one credit, and the simulated starting balance, whether $5K or $100K, does not change the price. One account is one credit.

When you need more, top-up packs come in 100, 500 or 1,000 accounts at your plan's per-account rate. Upgrading costs the price difference between plans, and unused credits carry over. For a deeper breakdown, read what a prop firm platform really costs or see the pricing page.

API access on both the $129 and $499 plans

This is the part many founders miss. The REST API is included on every plan. Buy Starter at $129 or Basic at $499 and you get API access with an API key. You do not pay extra to unlock it.

Here is what you can do with it today:

  • List and read trading accounts.
  • Assign or unassign a trader by name and email.
  • Read trades, positions, orders and rule flags.
  • Read and rotate credentials.
  • Pull account analytics and the equity curve.
  • Get one full account report in a single request.
  • Manage API keys.

Here is how the pieces fit. You create accounts in the admin panel, in bulk, up to 100 at a time. Your own backend then assigns those accounts to buyers over the API. A trader record is just a name and an email, and traders never sign up with PropExecutor.

Webhooks tell your systems when an account breaches or passes. A WebSocket API streams real-time account events to your systems. The full reference is in the API docs, and the quickstart gets you to a first call quickly. For ideas on what to build, see what the API lets you automate.

Rules that run on every tick

The rule engine judges every account on every price tick, not on a timer. You can set a daily loss limit, maximum loss limit, profit target, trailing drawdown, minimum trading days, max open positions, max lot size, hedging, orders per day and inactivity. Custom rules are available too. Each rule can breach the account, reject the order or flag it.

Rule sets are versioned. An account keeps the exact version it was created with, so editing a rule set never changes existing accounts. Traders see a live view of their rule headroom inside the terminal. Learn more on the rule engine page.

Plan limits matter at this budget. Starter gives 3 rule sets with 6 rules each, using core rules. Basic gives 15 sets with 15 rules each, advanced rules and 5 custom rules per set.

Your brand on the terminal

Branding scales with the plan. On Starter you set your firm name, dark logo and accent colour. Basic unlocks full branding: logos, colours, login screen and support links. Growth also hides the PropExecutor badge. The branded terminal can run on your own domain, so traders see your firm and nothing else. See the white label option for details.

The admin panel lets you assign and reassign traders, rotate passwords, manually breach an account and view analytics. Rotating a password, reassigning or archiving an account ends every live terminal session for it immediately.

A simple launch path for 2026

  1. Try the live demo account from the website.
  2. Pick Starter at $129 for 50 accounts, or Basic at $499 for 250.
  3. Build your rule sets and set your branding.
  4. Create accounts in bulk in the admin panel.
  5. Connect your backend with your API key to assign accounts to buyers.
  6. Add webhooks so your systems hear about breaches and passes.

The platform runs on Google Cloud infrastructure built to scale with your traders and traffic, from the $129 plan. Your traders get live prices on 50+ instruments, including forex, gold, oil, indices, Bitcoin and Ethereum.
